Just like old times
Danny the Jinty tank engine was taking the Eln Valley Spotters down the line, one Sunday morning. They were going to do some work on the old iron ore branch. Danny pulled the autocoach and brake van through Eln Ghyll, whistling so that the signalman would change the points for them.
They turned onto the old branch towards Eln Ridge, which was the site of an old marshalling yard, where trains of iron ore coming down from the iron ore mine would be assembled for engines to take to Workington’s Iron Works.

Up the valley, yonder
Fred and George are twin railbuses that work on the Cumbrian Coast. They get along very well with the other engines, and are always cracking jokes. They work very hard, and the manager is very pleased with them. One morning he came to the sheds to see them.
“You have both been working exceptionally well during this summer, and now that we are in a quiet season, I have decided to send you up the Eln Valley. It is in the county, but the line has only just reopened. They have several engines already, and are making it a heritage railway.” &n
